Welcome! My name is Dr. Vishal Thakkar (he/him/his), and I currently work as an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. I pride myself on being a dedicated educator and collaborator in clinical research. My website captures my personal and professional stories and talks about my journey from college to today, teaching experiences, a personal reflective blog about anything related to science, teaching, learning, and more, and a list of publications I have authored.
At work, I am excited about trainee education, approaches to analyzing clinical research data, and the field of cognitive neuroscience, broadly. My favorite teaching idea is understanding research design and statistics training at all levels and how we can improve these skills in higher education and for different programs, such as graduate students, medical residents, nursing fellows, and early career clinicians.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife (Hiral) our puppy (Ish) our family and friends, playing board games, and trying new coffee shops. I also enjoy watching comedy TV shows, such as Ted Lasso, Friends, and Brooklyn 99, and political/cerebral shows such as Madam Secretary.
I am always happy to connect with anyone and answer any questions that I have answers to. Various ways to connect with me are listed in the Contact tab.
